Pathways

Our learn to swim scheme is known as ‘Young Olympians’. There are 6 levels allowing progression from non-swimmer through to pre-squad. Through Young Olympians, your child will not only learn the basic swimming and survival skills, but develop their technique to prepare them for the squad or club pathways.

Junior Development caters in the same way for swimmers who begin their swimming journey at a slightly older age.

Beyond this, there are several squads with Young Olympians and Junior Development moving to Competitive 2 and/or Development 2, before moving to Competitive 1 and/or Development 1, and on to the Performance squads.

All swimmers can switch between Competitive and Development squads recognising that some will develop their technique and overall ability sooner or later relative to their age, allowing a matching of the most suitable type of training at the right time.

For example, a swimmer might leave the Young Olympians phase before transitioning to Development 2 for a short time before moving to Competitive 2 and on to Competitive 1.

All squads are competitive and there are expectations for regular attendance and competing at open meets.
